More than 400 guests enjoyed an evening of live music, distinctive wines, beers, and culinary delights at Taste of Success in March. The event, which was presented by Wegmans Food Markets and Aspen Dental, raised almost $30,000 for Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. Offerings included 125 varieties of international and New York State wines, select craft beers, and fine foods prepared by executive chefs from Wegmans Food Markets. Taste of Success was held at the International Pavilion at the New York State Fairgrounds.
"We are grateful to Wegmans Food Markets, Aspen Dental, and the entire community for coming out to Taste of Success to support our students," says Executive Director Wayne O’Connor. "Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection’s model relies on community collaboration and this event just goes to show that when the community comes together to support an important cause, many children will benefit." More than 40 community sponsors and volunteer teams from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and Bank of New York Mellon helped to make the event such a success.
HW-SC enrolled more than 750 Syracuse City School District students across 5 high schools and 7 middle schools last year. The proceeds from Taste of Success will help support HW-SC’s multi-year partnership with the Syracuse City Schools to reach a concentration of 1,250 students by 2012.
