The Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection (HW-SC) pledge drive in June raised approximately $10,000. The 20-hour fundraiser, broadcast live from Locust Hill Country Club, was produced in partnership with WROC-TV/Fox and the LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans. Pledge breaks throughout the day highlighted the HW-SC model, which provides long-term advocacy, academic resources, life skills development, job training, job placement, and worksite mentors to more than 3,000 at-risk youth in Rochester.
A number of organizations came together to make this second annual pledge drive a true community collaboration. Eye Openers, Metro Mattress, and Home Power Systems made significant cash contributions to the drive. Wilson Sports, Rochester Broadway Theatre League, Ravenwood Golf Club, Champion Hills Country Club, Brockport Country Club, Lima Country Club, Aladdin's Natural Eatery, and the Northside Inn donated wonderful raffle prizes to support the event.
According to Hillside Children’s Foundation Special Events Manager Leah Thomas, “We appreciate our partners’ and donors’ commitment to ensuring a stronger community through Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection and, most importantly, making a lasting impact on the life of a deserving young person.”
