Welch Allyn employees from across the Finger Lakes region came together to make a difference at Hillside Children’s Center’s Finger Lakes campus.Eighteen volunteers from Welch Allyn participated in the company’s A Show of Hands corporate social responsibility campaign by spending a half-day at Hillside Children’s Center’s Finger Lakes campus. The workers cleaned and mulched the campus nature trail. According to Volunteer Coordinator Heather VanDyne, “On one of the hottest days in July, they removed fallen trees and mulched over a lot of poison ivy to make the trail safer for the kids.”
Later in the day the volunteers played kickball with Hillside youth. “They were very enthusiastic about helping the kids,” Heather says. “It was also nice for the volunteers because they came from different areas and they had a chance to get to know each other better as they worked.”
Hundreds of Welch Allyn employees volunteered at dozens of not-for-profit organizations throughout Central New York on this second annual A Show of Hands Day. Heather hopes this year’s event was the start of a lasting partnership. “They were terrific to work with,” she says. “I hope we can work together on many more projects.”
