In 1837, a small group of innovators came together with the goal of building a better future for Rochester's orphaned and destitute children. One hundred and seventy-five years later, Hillside Family of Agencies continues to provide support to children in the Rochester community, but also to more than 12,00 families across Central and Western New York and in Prince George's County, Maryland. The newly released 2011 annual report documents Hillside's 175 years of growth and commemorates the official launch of our milestone year on February 28, 2012.  Read our report and take a personal tour through the pages of Hillside's rich history.

Adult Skill Building Helps Give Kelly’s Life Extreme Makeover

Kelly’s life has had some extreme challenges. She suffered from lead poisoning at an early age, which impaired her learning ability. She fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Paul, got pregnant and gave birth to Rose while Paul was serving in the Marines on the other side of the country. Kelly remains, basically, a single mom for now. Kelly and Rose lived with Kelly’s parents in their trailer home that had some issues of its own. The roof leaked. The walls were rickety, and Kelly’s bedroom window was broken…letting in icy "old man winter."  Read more.
